Thank you for your interest in joining the Stony Brook Volunteer Ambulance Corps for the Fall 2020 Probationary Class!
We are a NY State certified emergency ambulance agency primarily serving Stony Brook University and its surrounding areas. We are currently operating through the COVID-19 pandemic and are interested in holding an in-person probationary class. Individuals looking to join our Fall 2020 probationary class must be able to attend in-person class and skill sessions, adhering to all of the social distancing guidelines in place at the time (lecture portion of the class may be held online, but all skills will be done in-person). The last day of our probationary class will be Nov. 20th 2020, in adherence to the in-person deadline set by the University. In the event that in-person events must be cancelled due to the pandemic, then this probationary class will be halted and all members in the class at the time will be invited to join our next possible probationary class. During the in-person events we will be abiding by and enforcing all of the local and state social distancing guidelines in place at the time to keep all of those involved as safe as possible.
In order to apply, all prospective members must follow the process listed below:
· Email your typed application, resume, weekly schedule and any letters of recommendation to SBVACapplications@gmail.com with the subject line “YOURNAME” by Sunday, September 6th at 2359 hours.
· All applicants must attend a virtual open house session in the same semester they are applying. Please note that any open houses/informationals held in past semesters or inquiries at our information tables do not apply.
· You must be able to provide the proper proof of any and all certifications you may have.
· After you submit a completed application, you will receive a Google Sheets document to sign up for a virtual first round interview via Zoom taking place during the first half of the week of Sept. 6th. Please have your camera on and dress appropriately in business casual attire. If you feel as though you will have issues using Zoom or will be unable to turn on your camera during the interview please reach out to us at president@sbvac.org so we can accommodate you.
· Should you pass the first round of interviews, you will be required to attend a second round of interviews taking place the second half of the week of Sept. 6th. The second round interview will also take place virtually via zoom.
· If you are accepted to our probationary class, you must adhere to the guidelines and requirements listed on page 5 of this application.
