Past Officers

When this agency was first effectively organized in 1970, it was located in a cramped and windowless room in the Student Health Services infirmary. These few brave pioneers of the newly formed Stony Brook Volunteer Ambulance Corps employed the use of an antiquated Cadillac ambulance that had seen better years, but provided patient care with an uncompromising dedication to excellence and compassion. From these handful of volunteers, the ones who became officers were a large part of why the agency has evolved so much. Chiefs and Presidents have always been an integral part of any Fire Department or Ambulance Company; however, what they have contributed to this agency is truly amazing. In the context of a collegiate setting, officers often had an limited time in the agency before their academic sojourn with the university had to draw to an end (forcing them to continue into studies elsewhere or into what we know as "real life"). As such, these officers used this to their advantage and dynamically transformed the agency with their vision of what it should, could (and would) be. They have fought for the agency in times of difficulty, made sure that the original mission of SBVAC was still being followed, and well-represented the members to the community at large. This page is here as a dedication to the achievements and legacies of the individuals to whom the company owes so much to.

Note: As records of the agency have been sparse since a rather large HQ change about a decade ago, we have only limited information on past officers. Because of this, we only have partial information about predominantly Chiefs and Presidents. We would appreciate any knowledge you have of officers who have served the company. A name and date of term would be sufficient but anything more you could add would be a great help to us. Please contact at c.twentytwo@gmail.com
