Operational Branch

Ahmed Belazi - Chief of Operations

Designation: 5-35-30

The Chief of Operations is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the company. In the case of a major incident, the Chief is the highest ranking officer and will liaise with other EMS or FD Chiefs to ensure an orderly scene. The Chief also supervises the duties of other Operational Board officers.

Jeremy Lawrence - 1st Assistant Chief

Designation: 5-35-31

The 1st Asst. Chief supervises the Operational Board with the exception of the Chief. He is also responsible for training and promoting potential Crew Chiefs in the agency. Also, the 1st Asst. Chief is in charge of the Advanced Life Support aspect of the agency. On scene, the 1st Asst. Chief is the second in command.

Jeremy Lawrence graduated Stony Brook in May 2006 with a B.S. in Biology. He is currently a first year medical student at Stony Brook. He is originally from Rockville Centre, NY in Nassau County. He has been a SBVAC member since January 2005. His certifications include NYS EMT-P, NYC REMAC, ACLS, PALS, NRP, NC firefighting primary and essentials, and Hurst tool operations. He is a Crew Chief, Instructor, Senior Driver Trainer, and Field Training Officer within the Corps.

Robert Blue - 2nd Assistant Chief

Designation: 5-35-32

The 2nd Asst. Chief is responsible for maintenance of company vehicles and ensuring the safety of agency members. Also, the 2nd Asst. Chief is in charge of enforcing regulations regarding emergency vehicle operation. Lastly, the 2nd Asst. Chief oversees the continued performance of drivers within the corps.

Timothy Yang - Captain

Designation: 5-35-50

The Captain is responsible for all training offered and required of agency members. She also serves as the head instructor of the probationary class held every school semester. The training requirements and minimum progress rates of members are all determined by the Captain.

Timothy Yang is a Psychology major from Taipei, Taiwan. This is his 4th year in the agency and his first term as Lieutenant. He is certified in NYS EMT-CC and ACLS. He is a Crew Chief and Instructor within the Corps.

Barbara Karagiannis - Lieutenant

Designation: 5-35-60

The Lieutenant is responsible for the maintenance and acquisition of equipment used by the corps. He also ensures that equipment stocked on the ambulances meet state and federal regulations.

Timothy Yang is a Psychology major from Taipei, Taiwan. This is his 4th year in the agency and his first term as Lieutenant. He is certified in NYS EMT-CC and ACLS. He is a Crew Chief and Instructor within the Corps.

Executive Branch

Patricia Ng - President

Designation: 5-35-90

The President is responsible for the administrative aspect of the agency and overseeing the Executive Board. She also serves as the primary liason between the Stony Brook University administration and the corps. Duties of the President also include acting as the chief media officer.

George Stimola - Vice President

Designation: 5-35-91

The Vice President oversees the executive board in succession to the President and primarily administrates day-to-day affairs such as scheduling and the general maintenance of headquarters.

Lauren DeSio - Treasurer

Designation: 5-35-92

The Treasurer is responsible for all matters pertaining to company finance. His duties also include managing the insurance and locating sources of additional funding.

Christine LaRose - Secretary

Designation: 5-35-93

The secretary is responsible for maintaining records in the agency, including Prehospital Care Reports, call stats, personnel records, and meeting minutes.
